How to Create Admin User in SOPHO UTM

In this article, we discuss about how to create another admin user and assign existing user to admin role for SOPHO UTM Webadmin Access.
Go to Definitions & Users > Users & Group and then click " + New User "

  • Naming Username and password, authentication method and other option.
  • In authentication method: There are three option - Local, None and remote.
  • local - You can use local when you want to use this user to connect UTM only.
  • remote - You can use remote authentication type when you want to use active directory users or other authentication server like LDAP, etc.

  • After creating user, the second step you have to do is to assign this user to superadmin group. Go to Definitions & Users > Users & Groups Click Groups tab and Click Edit button in SuperAdmins Group.

  • Click "yellow folder" Icon and it will show all the user in your UTM in the left side.

SOPHO UTM initial Configuration Part2

After you initial setup on UTM ( https://phonemyintmyatzaw7.blogspot.com/2020/08/utm-97-initial-configuration.html), you have to do the next step that I described below.
Go to UTM WebAdmin Page by browsing https://192.168.108.251:4444.

  •  Firstly, You have to setup initial configuration like hostname, admin password, email address and so on.

  • After filling the above information, accept the end user license agreement and  click perform basic system setup. It will take a few minute and your UTM will reboot a while.

  • After logon into your UTM, you will see two option:
  •  Continue - If you want to setup all fresh configuration, you should choose this option.
  • Restore a backup - If you had UTM backup file, you can use this option and can try to restore from a backup. In my demo, I don't use a backup so I choose "continue" option and Click "Next".

  • Below step is a license information tab, you can browse or input your license file if you have or you can input the license file later. (Note : SOPHO will give you 30-days trial license for demo purpose). In this demo, I will input my license file later and so leave it and click "Next".

  • In this step, you have to configure your Local LAN Network IP Address. We'll use this ip address for browsing UTM Web Interface.
  • Enable DHCP Server on internal interface means if your want to setup dhcp server on the interface, you can enable this option and assign DHCP Address start range and End range and so on.

  • Assign your ISP (WAN) IP Address. You can choose Static or Dynamic type according your requirement.

  • This tab is related to Firewall Rule. You can choose the firewall rule which you want to allow your internal address to any. For example, if you choose Web(http, https), UTM will allow your internal network to Any destination by using port 80 and port 443).

  • You can even configure Advance Threat Protection Setting in this step or late.

  • For web protection setting, you can choose any option which you want to block or filter by UTM.

  • Here is your Configuration Summary tab.

Hope for enjoy learning.

Select your region and click "Next".

Select the interface that you will use the webadmin user access. (I recommend that you have to choose the interface which you connect to the Local LAN Network).
Set the IP Address of that interface. In this demo, it will use my LAN Network address (192.168.108.251/24).

After that  you can access your webadmin page by browsing https://192.168.108.251:4444.
